Every Friday, a new feature called the Friday Tack shows you what’s popular this Friday and what you actually want to care about. The Tack is posted three times every Friday (starting next week).

Well, it’s been quite a day, but it’s time for Friday to end. Here’s everything that happened today in the news you care about.

  • Sony has no plans to cut the price of their PlayStation 3.
  • In case you were under a rock for the last few days: The new, 3G iPhone is on sale, right now.
  • Two Worlds publisher Southpeak Interactive unveils their E3 lineup.
  • With the combined powers of Activision Blizzard, the company feels that it’s ready to take on one of the multimedia’s top contenders: Apple.
  • The new iPhone launch did not go as planned.
  • An actor’s strike looms.
  • Jaws is coming true.
  • Darwin controller emerged from developer Motus Games.
  • A crazy amount of Rock Band 2 info leaked today.
  • Another new character Soulcalibur IV was announced this morning.
  • The 2008 IntoThePixel E3 art gallery has some concept art for Valve’s Half-Life 2: Episode 3.
  •  The Wall Street Journal confirms that Microsoft will be cutting $50 off their current Xbox 360 Premium package price.
  •  An ongoing treasure hunt inspired by Replay Studios’s Velvet Assassingame has folks digging up Texas.
  • Nintendo may be announcing Punch Out for the Wii at E3.
  • The Dark Knight, the much anticipated geek film orgy of the summer complete with a deceased Joker creating posthumous Oscar buzz, is apparently getting no videogame tie-in.
  • IGN reports that the classic themed Megaman 9 is coming to all PSN, XBLA and WiiWare networks.
  • Here’s a new teaser trailer for Sonic Unleashed.

No, you aren’t seeing a Wii Remote from an alternate universe. This here is the Darwin controller for the Xbox 360 by Microsoft and Motus Games. It has the same colors as the 360 and doesn’t have a Sensor Bar, but the thing is ugly. I have a feeling that PS3 sales will go up a bit more because of this disgusting ripoff. Why, Microsoft??

This is the phone of the day, or maybe even the year, since after all, it’s an even faster iPhone than before. I’ve already seen plenty of phones this year, but none of them have lived up to the hype that the iPhone 3G is enjoying currently.

 Whether it’s in Chicago,Tokyo,

or even in New Zealand

this phone is on its high horse today and having a great ride.

Engadget has an updating post on which I got all these pictures from, but there are even more on the post. Go there now by clicking the Trackback link. Read More »
